Dr. Helene Saffer joined Pacific Rim Pathology in 2002 after serving as a pathologist at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego, CA. She graduated with a Master of Medicine in Hematopathology from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1992. She completed her residency at the South African Institute for Medical Research from 1988-1992. She later completed a residency focusing upon Clinical and Anatomic Pathology at the University of Texas in Houston from 1998-2001. This was followed by a surgical pathology fellowship at the UCSD from 2001-2002.

In addition to her role at Pacific Rim, Dr. Saffer serves as a pathologist within Sharp Healthcare providing her services at Sharp Grossmont Hospital, Sharp Memorial Hospital, and Sharp Chula Vista Hospital in San Diego, CA. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, College of American Pathologists, and the Clinical Cytometry Society.
